Update Contents page

I have made some very big changes to my contents page. To start with I have shrunk my custom logo to allow more space for my title and it didn't really work due to the further research that i did, it had shown that most of them had a smaller version of their logo or even a separate symbol. Next i have re-arranged my layout to provide more space for the next photo that i am going to take.

As shown here this will be the main photo for my contents page. The image will go right across the back, getting rid of the white background which was the number one improvement that i needed to make. The reason why it is a bright image is because my other image was too dark and when i printed it out the quality was not good enough and it was far too dark. Finally the reason why i decided to change the artists was because in order to get more marks i needed to show different images with different people, different mise-en-sen (clothing, lighting, background, body language e.t.c).

Photo's for magazine

Recently i went out and took photo's for my magazine, however these photo's did not go to plan with a number of factors having a major influence on them. To start with the lighting was not correct meaning that it did not work with the plain black background. Furthermore there was some reflections that were captured within the glasses making it look UN-professional. So in order to improve my photo's i am going out again with a plan and better ideas in order to create some appealing and clear cut photo's.

Review of the Rough Cut

This is my front page article which i handed in as a rough cut. I gathered a lot of primary research and i made sure that i stuck with my results and that lead to me producing this. I feel that there are still a lot of improvements that i can make. For instance i will need to add a price and possibly improve the layout to try and fill some of the blank spaces. Finally i will look at changing the style/font of the text at the bottom of the page because i feel that it doesn't work well with the overall page. I am going to do further research in order to find some more improvements i will need to make.

Rough Cut

I have now started on doing my rough cut for my magazine. I have completed all initial research and am now moving on the gathering photo's. I will start by asking permission to use different facilities around the area which is suitable for the magazine. I will then follow this up by transferring across all of my photo's onto my PC to begin work, throughout the process i will be updating you on how it is going as well as posting a few of the photo's that i had taken over the course of the week.

Double page spread research

The title of this magazine is really helps match the theme of the magazine which is punk rock. It does this by the clothes she is wearing and her hair style which really works with the whole punk rock style. Furthermore the title really stands out thanks to the white on black background draws the readers attention. Furthermore part of the text is highlighted in red to try and highlight the more important part of the text or i could even show name of other artists or important quotes. Finally the image goes across the page as well as the title of the article, the reason why the magazine has done this is because it is a very typical feature that many magazines. They use it to give the reader more to read and makes them read both pages.

Double page spread research

This magazine it is very organised with the use of very civil and clear cut text. The colour scheme works well with the picture and the theme of the magazine. There is the use of a drop capital which draws attention to the start of the article. The colour scheme of pink, white and black works well because the colour pink is typically renowned for being a female colour but the black and the white give it a more gothic and punk rock theme. They have also made sure that the image does cross over onto the other side because it is a typical feature in a lot of magazines. Next of all they have changed the colours of the text to help structure it and identify either more important areas or if it is a interview it could even identify the questions asked. Finally the text font for the word "WILD" really help match the theme with it being really creative and crazy text.

There is the use of a drop capital which draws attention to the start of the article. The colour scheme of pink, white and black allow the magazine to look and feel gritty and especially with the tattoos giving a rebellious attitude.   They have also made sure that the image does not cross over onto the other side to ensure that it is tidy and looks professional. Next of all they have placed a zoomed in quote within the middle of the text to draw the readers attention and it is there to back up the story within the text.

double page spread research

In this double page spread there is a wide variety of different techniques that have been used within this. To start with they have ensured that the picture is taking over the whole page to try and draw the readers attention. They have also made sure that the image does not cross over onto the other side to ensure that it is tidy and looks professional. Next of all they have placed a zoomed in quote within the middle of the text to draw the readers attention and it is there to back up the story within the text. Furthermore they have placed the title "THE TEENAGERS" across the two pages to give a rebellious vibe, this is also used to give the readers an indication of what the people within the image are like. Finally they have included shorter stories along with advertisement to give the reader something else to focus on and enjoy.
